Experience Michael J. Miller has more than 24 years of engineering, operations and managerial experience with major and independent oil and gas companies. He has worked in many geologic basins and in all phases of oil and gas field development. He has evaluated waterflood operations, designed operational systems for chemical tertiary recovery projects, and planned development projects ranging from shallow tight sands to deep, high-pressure gas fields in the Permian Basin. As Vice President of Operations for Equitable Resources Exploration, he directed the drilling of Mississipian oil wells and Devonian Shale gas wells and production operations for more than 3,000 wells in the Big Sandy Field of Eastern Kentucky. He later provided engineering and operations planning for several hundred Antrim Shale wells in the Michigan Basin. Past responsibilities include leasing and development planning, drilling and completion engineering, and gathering facilities design.
Since 1988, Mr. Miller has been involved in myriad coalbed methane projects, including evaluation of prospects in such diverse areas as Alaska and the Cherokee, Illinois, Northern and Central Appalachian and Powder River Basins. He helped develop the first commercial coalbed methane project in the Central Appalachian Basin and its expansion to several hundred wells. He later provided drilling and completion engineering and on-site management assistance to a start-up Cherokee Basin project, which expanded to several hundred wells. Additionally, Mr. Miller has conducted project optimization reviews on conventional and unconventional gas projects, performed due diligence reviews, developed unitization plans, prepared spill prevention plans, and appeared as an expert witness in civil court and before various federal and state regulatory agencies.
